Travis L. Wheat, CPL - President & CEO
Born and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas, Travis Wheat graduated from W.B. Ray High School in 2003 and went on to Texas Tech University where he was a member of the Red Raider football team, receiving Big 12 Conference All Academic as well as Dean’s List honors.
Wheat graduated with a double major in General Business and Management from the Jerry S. Rawls School of Business in 2007. He went on to receive the Petroleum Land Practices Certificate in the Energy Institute from the Neely School of Business at Texas Christian University in March of 2008.
Immediately following his graduation, Wheat started his career in oil and gas as a landman for Holland Acquisitions in downtown Fort Worth, leasing and running title for numerous operators in the Barnett Shale. He then went on to join with Kastner Land Services as a crew chief overseeing projects, curative, and eventually helping start up their West Texas branch.
In 2012, Travis founded Wheat Resources, LLC in Fort Worth and began leasing acreage and pursuing nonop working interest throughout West Texas primarily in the Delaware Basin. Wheat has put together several thousand acres and is continuing to grow their position in Reeves, Ward, Loving, and Howard Counties, as well as growing their interest in south Texas for the Eagle Ford, Buda, Austin Chalk and Vicksburg Massive formations.
He received his Certified Professional Landman Certificate in 2016 and has been an active member of the American Association of Professional Landmen since 2007. He is also a proud member of the American Association of Professional Landmen (AAPL), FWAPL, and DAPL.
Travis is also a co-founder, owner, and Advisory Board Member at Pediatric Home Health Care, LLC.
Erik Larson, CPL - Vice President of Land
Erik currently runs the land department at Wheat Resources and Wheat Energy Partners. He is heavily involved in every step of the process, from running initial cursory to the eventual sale of an asset.
Prior to joining the Wheat team, Erik was a Managing Partner at SL 2120 Ventures, which helped facilitate the acquisition and sale of over 15,000 net acres in West Texas. He started as a field landman in 2006, and has experience across New Mexico, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas.
Erik received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Oklahoma, and is an active member of AAPL, PAPL and FWAPL.
Michael T. Vinson - General Counsel
Michael Vinson serves as General Counsel of Wheat Resources, LLC, and is responsible for all legal, title and contract matters.
Michael started in the oil and gas industry as a landman and has worked throughout Texas for various clients and oil and gas companies. During law school, Michael worked for the Fort Worth law firm, Dawson Parrish, PC. Prior to joining Wheat Resources, LLC in 2018, Michael formed Treadstone Resources, LLC, an oil and gas land company that specializes in title, curative, and lease acquisition.
Michael is a Texas Panhandle native. He holds a bachelor’s degree in History with a minor in Political Science from the University of North Texas, and a law degree from Texas A&M School of Law.
Michael currently resides in Granbury, Texas with his wife, Andrea. They are both active members of Downtown church of Christ in Granbury, Texas. He is licensed to practice law in the state of Texas.
Devin Speir - Vice President of Business Development
Devin Speir has served as Vice President of Business Development for the Wheat / Trigo companies since 2018. Devin has over 10 years experience in the oil and gas industry, covering title, lease negotiations, mineral acquisitions, right of way, curative and crew management.
Prior to joining Wheat, Devin was a Managing Partner of SL 2120 Ventures, where he negotiated and closed multiple transactions in the Permian Basin, Haynesville, Barnett and Bakken Shales.
Devin graduated from Texas Tech University, is an active member of the Texas Tech Alumni Association, AAPL, FWAPL and PBLA.
